Week 7: Ethical Issues in the Medicare funded organ transplant
Introduction
There are various ethical issues involved in organ transplant especially when this undertaking is funded by the Government owned Medicare. Organ transplant involves the movement of a body organ from one individual to the body of the recipient. The lives of many patients have been saved after having organs donated to them. With Medicare funding organ transplant, many Americans are concerned about the unethical practices in deciding who benefits from the resource. However, the ultimate solution to this problem is implementation of preventive measures concerning the issues leading to organ failure, but some short-term solutions can also minimize the ethical concerns surrounding organ transplant in the US. This paper will describe and evaluate ethical issues concerning the Medicare funded organ transplants, offer some solutions to the problem and make some recommendations (Forsythe, 2012).
